The Top 10 Best Horror Movie Teaser Trailers!

I'm a sucker for that moment when you go the cinemas to see the latest flick, and a teaser trailer plays out that blows your mind, and fills you with absolute anticipation for what is being advertised.

The horror genre in my humble opinion have the best teaser trailers around. So... here is my list of the top 10 BEST horror movie teaser trailers.

NOTE: Not every one of these films necessarily turned out any good, but the trailer certainly grabbed your attention, and succeeded in building demand for them.

10. Halloween H20: 20 Years Later http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afyFcheLYnk This was every Halloween fan's dream... 20 years nce 1978, not a word of news about the future of the Halloween saga nce the pitiful Halloween 6.... until this. The return of Laurie Strode? I'm in!

9. Saw V http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJuOCO06_Lk Definitely not an amazing film by any stretch, but the style of this teaser is really really cool.

8. Godzilla http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXUOdgxiP18 Talk about bad films.... this trailer alone was the best part of a HORRIBLE Godzilla effort by the 'Independence Day guys', but what a trailer it was.

7. An American Werewolf in London http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3FTkAS15zk Clasc film with an amazing blend of horror and comedy. This trailer sums up the film pretty damn well.

6. Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5fc43O3ynE&feature=related Come on, who can hate this??

5. Paranormal Activity http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_UxLEqd074 The trailer without a doubt sold me (and apparently sold the rest of the world too)

4. Alien http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LjLamj-b0I8&feature=related Alien was a really scary movie, even its trailer is scary.

3. Red Eye http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAFDHyH8buQ The only reason I went to see this was because of this trailer. Not many films can start as a potential romantic comedy and end with a very intriguing nod to horror. Unfortunately, the film ended up being extremely average...

2. The Blair Witch Project http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWO3XP4zavk There were quite a few teaser trailers for this film, but this one has to take the crown of being the best of bunch. Absolute sheer terror, and that was just from the little black and white clip that played in cinemas worldwide!

1. Cloverfield http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IqQzvfn_s30 Probably the only trailer to not even show the title of the film, this teaser launched a HUGE marketing campaign by Paramount that ended up paying off as Cloverfield, the modern day Godzilla, ended up being one of the biggest films of 2008.

What have been some of your favourite horror trailers?

All great choices.

I really liked the teaser for Cloverfield(so many people were thinking new Godzilla movie!).

One of my favorites that didn't make your list is Jason X.

The movie itself has some debate amongst fans but Drowning Pool's 'Bodies' is practically made for Jason movie trailers!!

Excellent choices! I had to revit many of them because I have forgotten a good portion of trailers over the years. Seeing the short clips definitely takes me back to when I was psyched to see them in the first place. I was so happy to see The Blair Witch Project on here. That is the only trailer I will never ever forget. However, the first one I witnessed was one with Heather running out into the woods yelling "what the **** was that?!" all in black and white. It made me go, "what the heck is this?!" before I finally made it to the theater to see it.

If only I could go back in time and see some of these for the first time again. I miss going to movies when no one really owned a cell phone yet.

Great choices. I love all these teasers, even if the movies aren't that great.

I love teasers in general. I'd be just fine with having them and not full trailers.

One of my favorite teasers ever, not even for just horror, was this little gem...

I didn't really dig that movie much but you're right the teaser is pretty awesome. I think I liked the ALIEN teaser the best out of all of those.

High Tenon has a really good trailer http://youtu.be/3J0yc4ndZ3s

good list.if only Godzilla had lived up to the hype.here's hope for the new one.one of my favorites that, when I saw it at a screening for Hair at 11 years old, began a life long obseson.I literally had nightmares for weeks and when I finally saw the film about a year later(thanks to my late grandfather, who loved scary movies),well the nightmares never ended.

The Strangers. This trailer was (and still is) absolutely scary when I first saw it. The movie wasn't as good, but still a good film, nonetheless. http://youtu.be/2lm2hZ50sN4

I also LOVED the unused trailer for Halloween II. I know that a lot of people have a sheer hatred for this movie (I, personally, think that the Director's Cut is one of the best sequels throughout the franchise.), but the trailer was amazing.

These are awesome trailers but they both are in danger of showing way too much.

That Marilyn Manson movie looks badass, why wouldn't it see the light of day?
