Stephenie Meyer's New Sci-Fi Flick 'The Host' Reveals It's First Footage

If you plan on seeing The Hunger Games in theaters this weekend, then you'll get to see a sneak peek at a very different kind of love triangle. A teaser trailer for The Host, the film adaptation of the 2008 sci-fi romance novel by Twilight author Stephenie Meyer, will be among the trailers that will hit the screen before the highly anticipated film begins. But if you don't plan on waiting in lines this weekend, don't worry because we have the trailer right here for your viewing pleasure.



Author Meyer is a producer on the film, with Andrew Niccol credited with helming the upcoming flick as well as penning the screenplay.

***Twihards take note: vampires and werewolves are nowhere to be seen in the film. Look for the Host to hit theaters on March 29, 2013.

Plot Synops:

The Host is a riveting story about the survival of love and the human spirit in a time of war. Our world has been invaded by an unseen enemy. Humans become hosts for these invaders, their minds taken over while their bodies remain intact. Most of humanity has succumbed.

When Melanie, one of the few remaining "wild" humans, is captured, she is certain it is her end. Wanderer, the invading "soul" who has been given Melanie's body, was warned about the challenges of living inde a human: the overwhelming emotions, the glut of senses, the too-vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn't expect: the former tenant of her body refung to relinquish posseson of her mind.

When outde forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off on a dangerous and uncertain search for the man they both love.
