I also agree, I just think the story was a little flawed (for reasons I mentioned on the show) and it wasn't executed properly. -Alex

IMO part 8 is way worse than Part 5.,

A New Beginning has always been a guilty pleasure of mine, so I disagree with the Crew for the stingy rating. I thought there was a great array of characters, who were not only entertaining, but quite posbly the most memorable characters out of the entire F13 series. I guarantee that anyone who has watched this movie has not only quoted lines from this film at least one time in their life, but they've also found themselves nging along to the shitbox serenade, ""Oooh, Oooh, Baby…. Oooh, Oooh, Baby"...Hey Baby, Hey Baby..." I also disagree with the kills being unmemorable, I'd go as far as saying this has some of the most inventive kills scenes of the series.

One of the key elements that I liked was that nobody really knew if the killer was Jason for sure until the final reveal at the end. It was a real Scooby Doo moment....I loved it! And I actually found it to be very fitting, here's why:

In the first we saw a mom take revenge on the campers because of her son's death, but in all reality she was also a contributing factor because of her negligence as a parent. Had she kept a better on eye on him, he might have lived. And in ANB it's oppote. A father takes revenge for his sons death, which he can also be accountable for because of his negligence. Had he not abandoned his son, he would have not been put into foster care, thus he wouldn't have gotten butchered. So we had a mother/father both go on a killing spree, and their motive was for revenge... which I find all to be a little ironic because they never actually got to kill the individual(s) responble for their child death.

To me a horror movie is all about the entertainment aspect, I don't need to see a clever, deep storyline that has to make perfect sense in order to think it's good. Give me funny dialogue, memorable but somewhat dim-witted characters, clever kill scenes, blood, tits ("It's Show Time!"...haha), and a crazed lunatic who love to see the color red and chances are I'll be thoroughly entertained. ANB had all these elements, but it also provided a nice little twist in the end, which grabbed you, shock you up and then said, "Hey stupid, the films titled "A NEW BEGINNING" for a reason! If more people would realize this, then maybe the film wouldn't get bashed as much as it does.

I give it an 7.

I like part 5 more than 8 9 and X. Part 5 has some of my favorite characters and I really do think if Jason was the killer a lot of fans would rank it a bit higher in the franchise. From experience with my friends and family most everybody likes it till the end.

I was always under the impreson that the first two kids killed in Part 1 WERE the kids that were having sex while Jason drowned.Werent they killed a year after Jason drowned? Then there were no more killings till 1980?

That's a great question. I never thought I'd witness the day that "part 5" would get this much in-depth coverage. Let's cover everything down to why Roy had to pick a hockey mask that was just different enough to not be the real Jason. I mean blue traingles on the mask? Come on! :)

Did you get to hear this episode yet Justin? We didn't get AS in depth as the first 4 but I think it was a decent enough show for what it was. I honestly do like this movie if I forward some parts. I was never a huge fan of the final chase scene though. It seemed very cheap and in-genuine to me. It's an okay movie though, def not the worst Ive ever seen.

Yeah Alex I worded that post a little weird. You guys did great I just love hearing all the responses that keeps the conversation going. Trust me, you guys have brought up so many things with all these films, including this 5th installment that blew me away. I have been laughing my ass off at all the little things being pointed out that I thought only I caught. Especially not knowing who it was Roy at the end until the sheriff explains. I was like WTF, which guy is this until the explination. lol! Great shows and great responses.

OMG. For some reason I totally forgot about that. How stupid am I? Lol!!

it was implied that the first two in the original were in fact the ones not paying attention

as for pt 5, Jason WAS in the movie so that argument people bring up is busted (yes it was dreams and hallucinations but he WAS in it

)

fans always piss and moan about movies never being different, yet this one tried to be different and gets bagged on for being different i mean WTF?????

I always hear "Friday 5 sucked because Jason wasn't in it"

well following that logic the first Friday should suck because Jason wasn't killing in it, sorry try again

if people truly hate it I need a better reason, story? acting? what?

I think the dark comedy was ahead of its time and that threw people off as well

I'll just never understand how people hold up the Kane Hodder Friday's so high and toss this one ade, let's be honest those Fridays ran out of ideas and got worse and worse which I blame on pt 6 for bringing him back from the dead and tosng out the story of Tommy becoming Jason which would have been superior IMO

the series should have gone on with Tommy or ended with pt 6

ok my rant was a bit all over the place and I apologize but in concluon Friday 5 rules because it dared to be different (even if it was directed by a porn director)
