Official Trailer Arrives For HBO'S BEWARE THE SLENDER MAN!

The Slender Man character is a fictional supernatural being that was created in 2009 by Eric Knudsen on the Something Awful forum. From that point, the Slender Man took on a life of it's own reaching folklore status, and has now become part of pop culture by appearing in video games and independent features.

The figure is even set to receive an upcoming HBO documentary titled BEWARE THE SLENDER MAN. A dark cloud came over the Slender Man when tragedy struck in 2014 as the character inspired two 12-year-old girls to stab their friend to death. The filmmakers of this documentary were able to gain exclusive access to the families of those girls.

Synopsis:

"The traumatizing story of the so-called Slender man has been circulating around the internet for more than five years, terrorizing children, scaring even hardened Redditors and creating an overwhelming sense of unease in anyone who runs across the tales of the supernatural figure. Born out of a 2009 meme, the chilling individual has been the source of folk tales, video games, and now, documentaries.

Brodsky uses the (fictional) disturbing figure to explore not only the effect that Internet lore has on real-life actions, but also how the digital age is saturating the imagination and actions of children."



BEWARE OF THE SLENDER MAN debuted earlier this year at South by Southwest. It will air on HBO January 23rd, 2017.
