Looking Ahead (The Next Decade Of Horror)

As this decade comes to a close and we look back at the past 10 years of horror movies, the ups, the downs, the trends and the not so trendy (wether it be good or bad), the question has got to be asked: What are we horror fans looking forward to and expecting out of the next decade. The past ten years have been filled with remakes and torture porn, the rise of independant features in horror, a resurgence in 3D horror as well as found footage films, and films that have shown a strong sense of fear of what is going on in other countries, and what plans they might have for us (in my opinion at least).

So what do we as horror fans have to look forward to in the next ten years? For a little while I had fears that this beloved genre of ours was dying, but looking at a few films I've heard about recently I feel like there may be hope. I also have a prediction that because of fears of global warming and all out global catastrophe, that perhaps we can expect the rise of eco-horror films and apocalypse movies. Again, that is just my opinion, and I'd like to hear some thoughts from other people. What films are you guys looking forward to? What kind of trends do you think we can expect to see? What directors do you have your eye on as the hopeful next wave? All discusons of that sort are game here.
