What Nightmare Ranks Lowest On Your Scale?

This question seemed inevitable. Which "A Nightmare On Elm Street" film did you enjoy the least? All but the original are far from cinema gold, but which one is the most painful to watch?

I say A Nightmare On Elm Street 5: The Dream Child. This one's just plain bad. The only things that are really impresve are Robert Englund (who is always fun to watch) and

the special effects(which in my opinion, were wasted on a bad story, bad characters, and a villain who was too comical for my taste). I hope we get to see a more evil Freddy in the next film (if it ever happens).

Well I have a feeling that if you watched them all today, you'd have the same opinion.

Hands down the worst is "Freddy's Dead."

Killing a kid in a video game . . . enough said.

Still, the whole 3-d lamo ending was the pits.

The only good part of the film was the VERY end when Fred's daughter supposedly finishes him off.

Good point. I think I may conder that a tie with my first pick.

The thing about Freddy's Dead is, nothing worked. The story was BS, the ending was more set on working in 3D than working for the film, and the cameos in this one seemed to be more unnecessary than usual (although Alice Cooper as Freddy's dad was fitting). Now, with that being said... I can still get a bit of enjoyment out of this one (Johnny Depp and Robert Shaye making appearances, Mr. Englund didn't disappoint)... which I can't get with ANOES 5.

hI hated "FREDDY'S REVENGE".

That's another one that just didn't work in my opinion. I still sort of like the film (probably because Freddy hadn't gone "Hee Haw" on us yet)... but it would have been better with a female lead. I can't help it... I think horror is better that way.

You guys certainly hit the nail on the head. In my mind Elm St. jumped the shark when Freddy really hit mainstream in the late 80's. You had the TV show, the lunch boxes, Freddy at the MTV awards. This popularity bleed over into the movies when the scripts writers started having Freddy try to act "cool" and do "shtick" . I agree, I would love to see old creepy and sadistic Freddy then the newer stand up veron. Good topic.

Well if this next one is indeed a remake, we're bound to get the old Freddy back... like he was in the original. At least that's what I'm hoping for.

Really thinking about it, the New Nightmare has some incredible potential if they get Englund back.

They could take it back to the way Craven originally envioned Kruger.

Yeah... but judging by the way remakes are going these days... it'll probably be be completely different. But we can always hope

I think I'll change my opinion in advance... the worst ANOES film is the remake.

Myers31TKD Tuesday 2/05/2008 at 02:26 AM | 2055
and what was going on with Part 2?

Freddy hardly speaks the entire movie.

Part 2 had som major problems. I think it would have done better with a female lead.
