Major Update On ASH VS EVIL DEAD Within - New Plot Details -Plus New Face Joins!

Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.

It wasn't long ago that we learned that Sam Raimi was working on a television project and now we know that the Evil Dead is officially coming to TV this year sometime. Starz picked up the new series which will be officially titled ASH VS. EVIL DEAD. It will be a follow up to Raimi's EVIL DEAD films and will feature an older Ash accompanied by two other characters. Bruce Campbell will be reprising the iconic role.

We learned that the two new faces which will accompany Ash will be Ray Santiago and Dana DeLorenzo.

Today we have another update as Jill Marie Jones officially joins the cast and will play the role of Amanda Fisher. Here is the description for that character along with some new plot details:

"Following the grisly murder of her partner, disgraced Michigan State Trooper Amanda Fisher sets out to find our anti-hero Ash and prove his responsibility for the crime. But as she soon learns, Ash and his cohorts may be mankind’s only hope against the plague of EVIL DEAD."

Ray Santiago will portray Pablo Simon Bolivar - an idealistic immigrant who becomes Ash’s loyal sidekick. Pablo believes in Ash’s heroism even if Ash himself doesn’t.

Dana DeLorenzo will take on the role of Kelly Maxwell - a moody wild child trying to outrun her past. Reluctantly dragged into the fight against Evil with Ash and Pablo, Kelly finds a different kind of family with her fellow Deadite slayers.

Bruce Campbell recently spoke with DC saying of the upcoming TV series:

"I’m bringing everything to the table. It’s a feisty version of Ash, who’s grizzled and just wants to be left alone.”

Campbell then compares the Deadites to The Walking Dead:

"We are competitive with ‘The Walking Dead,’ like, ‘We’ll show those f*ckers!’ [Our] Deadites are very clever. They not stupid shufflers. They can mimic people; they can drive cars. They’re a fun threat. They [‘The Walking Dead’] are right up there [though] with being responsible for the current resurgence [of horror].”

Campbell also has made it known that the current plan for ASH VS EVIL DEAD is to try and have five seasons.

Aaron Lam will be producing and Craig DiGregorio will be the writing showrunner as well as executive producer along with Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell. Co- executive producing will be Ivan Raimi.

Sam Raimi, Ivan Raimi, and Tom Spezialy all are writing with Sam set to direct the first episode.

ASH VS EVIL DEAD will be made up of 10 half hour episodes. It will be filmed in New Zealand this spring and premiere on STARZ in late 2015.

We will continue to bring you more on ASH VS. EVIL DEAD as it unfolds.
