Just recently AMC debuted their new spinoff series FEAR THE WALKING DEAD which obtained a record 13.3 million viewers, including three days of DVR playback, making it the biggest series cable debut ever. The show explores what the world looked like as it was transforming into the horrifying apocalypse depicted in THE WALKING DEAD. The new series is set in Los Angeles and follows new characters as they face the beginning of the end of the world.

AMC has announced a new and innovative plan which will go along with the companion series as they will be introducing a Season 2 main character over the course of a web series which will appear online during the commericial breaks of THE WALKING DEAD this Fall.

The web series will be set on an airplane as the outbreak is happening. It will all unfold in chapters and by the end of it we will know who will have survived long enough to make it to L.A. and become the new cast member of FEAR THE WALKING DEAD. Season 2 will be comprised of 15 episodes.

The cast for FEAR THE WALKING DEAD is made up of Cliff Curtis, Kim Dickens, Frank Dillane, Alycia Debnam Carey, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Ruben Blades, Lorenzo James Henrie and Mercedes Mason.

Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero and David Alpert serve as executive producers on FEAR THE WALKING DEAD along with AMC Studios producing. Dave Erickson, who also executive produces takes on the title of showrunner and co-executive producer Adam Davidson, director of the pilot episode, will also be responsible of the direction for episodes two and three.

“‘FEAR OF THE WALKING DEAD takes us back to the earlier, more dangerous, more terrifying days of ‘THE WALKING DEAD,’” said Kirkman. “A time when danger was lurking around every corner and the thing mostly likely to get you killed was your own ignorance of the rapidly changing world around you. The stakes are going to be higher and the ride more intense. We're going to show people all the insanity of civilization crumbling that Rick Grimes slept through. Buckle up."

FEAR THE WALKING DEAD currently airs Sunday nights on AMC.
