Update On THE EXORCIST TV Show Within!

Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.

There's no question that THE EXORCIST is one of those rare films that was so revolutionary and good that it became the measuring stick for all possession films after its release. With all of the remakes and adaptations going on these days, it was only a matter of time before the same was done to this classic story. Years ago rumors previously swirled around this idea but now it looks as if it is really going to happen.

We know that Fox has ordered a pilot episode that is inspired by William Peter Blatty’s 1971 novel, "The Exorcist." The pilot will be a "modern reinvention" of the novel. It is being described as "a propulsive, serialized psychological thriller following two very different men tackling one family’s case of horrifying demonic possession, and confronting the face of true evil."

The first name has been brought on board for the project as director Rupert Wyatt will be directing the pilot episode. Wyatt is known for helming RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES.

Jeremy Slater is given the task of writing the script, with producing duties being handled by 20th Century Fox Television and Morgan Creek Productions, with Slater executive producing along with James Robinson, David Robinson, and Barbara Wall.

"Inspired by a true story of a child’s demonic possession in the 1940s, William Peter Blatty created an iconic novel that focuses on Regan, the eleven-year-old daughter of a movie actress residing in Washington, D.C. A small group of overwhelmed yet determined individuals must rescue Regan from her unspeakable fate, and the drama that ensues is gripping and unfailingly terrifying."

We will continue to bring you more on THE EXORCIST coming to television as it unfolds.
