NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD Zombie Is Cut From THE WALKING DEAD

Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.

When it comes to creating reanimated corpses, special effects artist Greg Nicotero is the man to have on your team. He has created and overseen thousands upon thousands of walkers on the hit television series THE WALKING DEAD, a show which he also serves as executive producer and recurring director.

During this period Nicotero has paid tribute many times by giving the nod to great works that have come before him from films such as DAWN OF THE DEAD, DAY OF THE DEAD, SHAUN OF THE DEAD, ZOMBIE, JAWS, BLACK SABBATH, TALES FROM THE CRYPT, EVIL DEAD 2, AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON, and RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD.

Now that Season 6 of THE WALKING DEAD has concluded, Nicotero revealed one such tribute that did not make it on screen. An homage to one of George A. Romero's NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD ghouls was created but never used.

Nicotero explains:

"The tribute Walker that hit the cutting room floor from episode 6 of this last season... Johnny from the one and only Night of the Living Dead! After the fact I realized I should have used him in the premiere and he would have been in black and white. Damn!!"

While this particular tribute walker idea would have been amazing, we can be thankful that we at least get to see what might have been.
