The Dual Valley Bandit Has Been Captured!

On Saturday afternoon, the Pasadena Police were finally able to capture the “Dual Valley Bandit”, who is responsible for a number of robberies that have plagued the San Fernando and San Gabriel Valleys.

Shownee Shon Smith, who is the F/X Artist and owner of FRONTLINE DESIGN has been apprehended in the act of his 11th Armed Bank Robbery in less than 1 month. Smith is now the most prolific serial armed bank robber since John Dillinger. He is known within the entertainment world as he did the costuming for SPIDER-MAN 3, MAN OF STEEL, and NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM 2, just to name a few.

Smith’s arrest took place just after he used a shotgun to rob the Ranch Wells Fargo Bank branch on Saturday afternoon just after 3:50 pm. He was quickly apprehended by Pasadena police.

The robbery was taking place in the busy Hastings Ranch Plaza shopping center as officers arrived at the scene to take action. Witnesses reported seeing 10-12 police vehicles speeding into the area, which is a mecca for weekend shopping.

Smith was confronted by officers as he exited the bank to which he quickly dropped his weapon and surrendered. The money that was stolen was recovered.

No one was injured during the incident.

The Chief of Police, Phillip Sanchez had this to say of the incident:

“I am extremely proud of the first responders of the Pasadena Police Department who courageously faced a dangerous situation and were able to quickly take an armed robbery suspect, believed to be responsible for numerous bank robberies throughout Los Angeles County, safely into custody. I am grateful no one was injured during this incident.”

Smith is currently being held on $256,000 bail in the Pasadena Police Jail.
