What do you think about Asian horror movies?

Man I like horror movies a lot.I do not just watch horror that is made in USA but also from France, Spain, Germany and other parts of the world. But probably the most weird horror movies come from Japan. Man if I go back, like Gots of Bauty, girl turning into weird monster with a big deadly penis, Evil dead trap 1,2 or Guinea Pig. Or movies from Takkashi Miike like Ichi the Killer,Audition and others. One day ago I saw the Tokio gore police - probably never seen more bloody movie in my life. See the trailer:

They are just freaky? What is your opinion?

I've never been a fan of Japanese horror, but the only movies I've been exposed to are the "kid in white makeup with wet hair posseson/ghost movies".I've had Tokyo Gore Police at the top of my netflix queue for the past few weeks.

It must be pretty popular nce they never ship me the DVD.

From the trailers I've seen, it looks like a fun movie.

Yeah Japanese people are making some ck shit. You will see at the Tokyo gore police a lot of this things, dick cutting off, pisng and many more. You will be like WTF!

Probably for me the most weird movie from Japan would be Guts of Beauty. You must read the plot:

I liked The Ring and Ring 2 but other than that I hate all this Japanese crap with weird ass, twitchy, zombie-like kids in it.

Japanese people don't take gore as offenve as the people in the states.

Here's one for you guys. It's called "Yotsuya Kaidan". This is probably the greatest Japanese horror film ever. It's been remade several times. The ultimate veron is the 1959 color remake and is a must for Japanese horror. Still stands the test of time as Japans finest horror films.

But I would probably say that one of the best japan horror movies is Onibaba made in 1964. This is clasc, if you have not seen it yet it is a must for all horror fans!

IMDB:

Hey Kaizu did you also see the 1949 veron Yotsuya Kaidan? I did not see this movie but will try to find it. TNX Kaizu for the movie advice.

I'm not a huge fan from japanese horror movies (as I'm not SAW fan too), but popular movies like The Grudge and The Ring are a kind scary, indeed. You can't say: "no, I didn't jump when that f%$# girl jumped on the screen"... I think the fact is these movies are slow action. Too many talk, and they almost never show the kills, you know, the girl having his teeths pulling out and something like these. But I haven't seen many of these movies, so I'm not the best guy to give ya an opinion. I'm still from the old serial killers movies, like F13th, Halloween and BTM...

Of course LUCKMANN that you see the kills in Japanese horror. And a lot of kills, freaky kills. And they are probably the most brutal, bloody, weird horror movies that you can get. Especially weird You have a lot of gore like in the movies

Guinea pig, Tokyo gore police, Ichi the Killer and many more.

I just don't like that kind of Japanese movies with little children running around and killing people. They are just boring and not scary for me, I don't know why are they allways putting those kids in horror movies.
Klempo Monday 2/02/2009 at 12:46 PM | 34090
Well, never saw Guinea Pigs movies. The few I saw are really bad. And why kids? Imagine you surrounded by ten little angry kids trying to smash your head, with the smiling face and their cute voice. Look out the blond girl on Dawn of The Dead (2004) and then you tell me...
LÜCKMANN Monday 2/02/2009 at 03:04 PM | 34108
I don't know man the kids are just not scary. Maybe grannies are scary but not kids.

I love Chinese category III movies like The Untold Story, Men Behind The Sun and Ebola Syndrome. They are some of the most brutal films you can find. China is often overlooked by fans of Aan horror.

I like some Aan Horror.
Michael Aspinwall Friday 2/20/2009 at 05:03 PM | 36721
When it comes to French and Aan horror, methinks they both have down the idea of what good, gruesome horror is.

I love Aan horror; my favourite stuff

being from Takeshi Miike. Oh and, Guinea Pig series is aweeeesome, as well.

Or or those Aa Extreme mini-movies that came out a while ago. Anybody seen Dumplings?? Definitely a favourite of mine!
lollirot Saturday 2/21/2009 at 04:43 AM | 36860
Aan Horrors are just scary. When I went to Japan, I saw bunches of Japanese Ghost movies that pop out of nowhere. Then it's all scary looking and all that.

Now talk about the Grudge. Now that was something.

I love it all. I enjoy that the subject matter is different from that of traditional American horror. I love everything from the ultra gore all the way to the slow drawn out demon stories and the haunted all girl school stories. Many of the horror movies coming out of japan reflect its loss of identity as a nation, and the generation gap inherited as a result. They deal with the guilt of not meeting one's expectations. They are both good for a nice splatterfest and a good laid back psychoanalys.

Ohhhh yes... I think one of the best features of dumplings is the sound effects. The squishing and crunching during the close-ups of the dumplings being eaten makes it all the better. I must admit though as much as i love both cuts of it (the short 3 extremes and the full length) i think the shorter veron got the point across much better without giving everything away.
