Halloween Domestic Box office comparison

So I frequent the Boxofficemojo showdown section.

However, they have few horror films listed and I've always wanted to see how the Halloweens matched up against each other . . .who made the most, and the least.

Domestic Total Gross (no international figures and not adjusted for inflation)

-Halloween$47,000,000 -Halloween II $25,533,818 -Halloween III$14,400,000 -Halloween IV $17,768,757 -Halloween V
$11,642,254 -Halloween VI $15,116,634 -Halloween H20 $55,041,738 -Halloween Resurrection

$30,354,442 -RZ Halloween $58,272,029

So looks like RZ comes out on top while H5 settles at the bottom below H3 (which actually surprised me a little).

Wow. Good thread. Pretty cool that H20 was that spark that lifted things back up again.. -Dexter

And then Resurrection came along to shoot it down.

no RZs DOES NOT COME OUT ON TOP!!!

47,000,000 in 1978 dollars is a shit load more than 58,000,000 in 2007 dollars

adjust those amounts for inflation and RZs is probably close to last..............

LOL, I wondered who make that comment LOL. Up at the top I noted that these are not adjusted for inflation and the all time list normally doesn't adjust for inflation.

Titanic is given title of biggest box office draw of all time but if you look at inflation Gone with the Wind actually is still #1.

I'll see about getting those adjusted for inflation Bisco.

give me a few here.

Ok Domestic Total Gross (no international figures and ADJUSTED for inflation)

-Halloween $136,982,905 -Halloween II
$62,640,517 -Halloween III $33,404,081 -Halloween IV
$29,484,896 -Halloween V
$20,000,043 -Halloween VI
$23,700,102 -Halloween H20$80,039,371 -Halloween Resurrection

$35,631,203 -RZ Halloween
$58,272,029

So it looks like with Adjusted ticket prices H1 comes out on top while H5 settles on the bottom.

RZ comes in 4th place when adjusting for inflation but unfortunately (in most lists) inflation is not accounted for.

I, for one, am not surprized. I knew it pulled BIG numbers. Still a bit confused that H3 topped H5, but other than that... this looks pretty spot on.

The figures come from:

Boxofficemojo.com

They are pretty accurate numbers.

I didn't think H4 would be that low either especially nce H3 was released in 1982 and H4 came out in 88.

That's a pretty big gap and I personal would think there would have been a bigger hype over that long of a time period but I guess not.

Also, I'm surprised H5 would be the lowest of them all.

However, H5 was released one year after H4 and maybe should have spread them out by a couple years to build up more of a hype.

well dont be to surprised cause h5 sucked and it came out to close to h4...and h4 wasnt that great....h3 came out after a great h2..so people were more inclined to see it...not really thinking that it was not about mr myers....

either way H1 H2 H3 are the best halloweenies and in my humble opinion will never be topped

He has to watch that movie like 6 times now just to regain some ground.
