So some of you guys know I've been doing box office comparisons for the bigger Slasher movie titles.
Remember, All of these numbers are not adjusted for ticket inflation and as we proved in the Halloween series . . . inflation can make a difference however for right now we are sticking to "actual money" earned.
There have been some surprises in the past and you might be surprised by these findings . . .then again, maybe not.
6. Hellraiser Series: $48,526,609
5. Child's Play Series: $126,174,126
4. Texas Chainsaw Massacre Series: $164,784,124
3. Halloween Series: $275,129,672
2. Nighmare on Elm Street Series: $307,420,075
1. Friday the 13th Series: $315,635,506
I personally didn't think Nightmare would come out on top over Halloween.
However, Freddy vs Jason was included in both Friday and Nightmare totals.
Friday coming out on top isn't too surpring to me, it does have the most sequels and actually if it didnt' win it would have been sad (for the series).
Hellraiser bottoms out and only because it's last 3 sequels were direct to DVD.
So there you have it, (without accounting for inflation) Friday the 13th reigns supreme over the slasher franchises . . . so far LOL.
