I'm not sure why. I'm fine with it though because Johnny Depp is such a great actor.
Myers31TKD Saturday 1/19/2008 at 06:55 PM | 543
i agree, but it's getting annoying. he should try something new for once. have you seen sweeney todd?
RickyTheShape Saturday 1/19/2008 at 06:57 PM | 544
ALOT of directors do that though (stick with the same actors through out different movies. A good example of that is Rob Zombie and his gang (see any Rob Zombie film, past, present, and probably future).

Agreed. She gets better with every movie she makes (if that means anything).

Also... Hitchcock had a thing for blonde actresses, Sergio Leone liked Clint Eastwood, and Martin Scorsese has recently taken a liking to Leonardo Dicaprio. I'm telling you... it's very common among directors.

Yeah, I think they get a feel for working together and are a little afraid to go

out on a limb sometimes. -G.

Yeah... and if you notce... all of these director/actor relationships have to do with talent, and what works. I guess they figure if it worked before... why wouldn't it work now.

Ed Wood ALWAYS used the same people (mostly i think because thats all he could get)

Think about it... even John Carpenter did it. He's made ALOT of movies with Kurt Russel and Charles Cyphers. Adrienne Barbeau too. Even Jamie Lee Curtis and Nancy Loomis were in The Fog together.

Alot of actors and directors just click.. it's like a natural thing.

Yeah... and once a director see's talent in someone, they're not likely to forget about it.

Burton's name sells movies. Depp's ame sells movies. That is the reason right there. i will see any Tim Burton movie and any Depp movie. Two greats right there.

Here's the figures on the Burton/Depp combo

-Edward Scissorhands Domestic Gross: 56 million -Ed Wood Domestic Gross: 5 million -Sleepy Hollow Domestic Gross: 101 million -Charlie and the chocolate factory

Domestic Gross: 206 million -Corpse Bride Domestic Gross: 53 Million -Sweeny Todd Domestic Gross: 48 million so far

Two of them are blockbusters, I'd say that has a little something to do with their continued collaboration.
