Lets hear those Texas Chainsaw Massacre war stories. Also what was your reaction the first time you saw Leatherface?....

The first Leatherface I saw was the original Gunnar Hansen veron. But I only saw it because as a kid, in the video rental store, there was a crazy poster for part 2 with a saw blade and some chili. I ended up talking my dad into renting it and he mistakenly rented part 1 instead. Which in hindght was a good mistake. Don't really remember my reaction at the time, but the "Franklin hears something" scene scared the crud outta me. Crazy movie and very claustrophobic.

I still like the original the best but I really dug the remake too. I think Mihailoff beats ass as Leatherface in part 3 though. It seems that Leatherface in the prequel looked more like Mihailoff's veron than any other.

the first time i saw it i was pretty young 8 i think and it scred the bejesus out of me.

the scene when leatherface smacks the kid on the head with the sledge drags him in and slams the door made me stop watching it. gave me nightmares

for months.

i never sw it all the way through until i was 13

amazing how a pretty much goreless movie can still scare

Leatherface has to be my favorite horror slasher. i love the fact that he can run so fast with a smoking chainsaw in his hands. part three has to be my second favorite out of the series. it takes place in the woods. and you never know when he is gonna jump out at you. i think every actor did great as the role of leatherface. but andrew did amazing. my favorite texas chainsaw massacre movie has to be the 2003 remake. great movie and great actors. but gunnar hansen will always be the original leatherface.

finally leatherface gets some love.

Like Crash, I too saw the original first... only I actually intended to rent it. I think this is one of the only movies where as soon as it ended, I went to the store and bought it. I just had to have it. It has a certain feel to it that I just couldn't stay away from. It's really the feeling I'm looking to get from a horror movie. Very unsettling.

I remember eating cold chili right out of the can as I watched it. I'm not sure why I remember that so well, but I have a clear memory of dipping Pringles in a can of cold chilli. I had never eaten that before, and haven't nce... although I guess it wasn't so bad. Still, I picked an odd time to try it.

By the way... we have a stormtrooper icon, but no Leatherface???!!!!

I've been watching horror movies nce I was 7 and the only one that scared me was the original nightmare on elm street...nightmares for a good month...lol. I do remember loving it though. Leatherface is off the hook....the ckest part is that it was based on actual events. I love those kind of horror movies. Some of the ones after that sucked. You know what they say...there's nothing like the original.

very very very loosley based on real events.

psycho is closer to the real story of ed gein than TCM was.

LOL it was still awesome though...Psycho was great too :)

Actual Psycho, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and lence of the lambs were all based on the same real life serial killer.

However, the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre was also my first.

I loved how raw the movie was . .. very gorilla style . . . scared me to death.

I actually watched part of it the other night on some movie channel and I still thought to myself . .. . man this is a freak'n crazy movie!

When Booman and I talked with Gunnar Hansen about his experience he said he had no clue the movie would ever get noticed.

Funny thing, he said he went back out to the location where they shot the movie shortly after it got big and some kids pulled up (who came to see the house). They said to Gunnar (not knowing who he was) "Did you know this is where they shot that movie?"

LOL, I thought that was pretty funny and that's when Gunnar said he knew this movie was going to be remembered.

Wow all three were based on the same killer....that's ck...lol good shit they were all great.

Yes they all were indeed based on the true life events of Ed Gein....



The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was probably the least based upon the Gein killings but the fun part of that movie is they really made it seem like that movie was taken from actual news events. The fact of the matter is there are no records anywhere of a chainsaw related killing (other than accidental) in Texas ever....

i read a book about that guy once, he kept his mothers dead corpse in the house with him for years if i remember right. i also love the tcm series. not sure what they were thinking with part 2 but the rest were very good.

It's a great read but REALLY disturbing stuff to say the least.
