UPDATE: Moustapha Akkad Missing From HALLOWEEN II (1981) Blu-ray - Talks of Boycott

I was MIA yesterday for one reason and one reason only, I picked up a brand new copy of the Blu-ray transfer of my beloved HALLOWEEN II. While enjoying the film something immediately struck me as odd. The Godfather of the HALLOWEEN series, the producer and one of the most genuine men in the genre was misng for the beginning of the film. Instead of the famous "MOUSTAPHA AKKAD PRESENTS" it now says "UNIVERSAL, AN MCA COMPANY, PRESENTS" and moves on to the title sequence. Outrageous but not unexpected as companies will do this from time to time especially when a series moves around as much as HALLOWEEN does.

Today, ShockTillYouDrop.com caught up with Akkad's son Malek who had this to say.

"It's disgusting," Malek tells Shock. "It's a disgrace, obviously, bias, objectively, any horror fan would find this as an insult to the man who has done so much to the series. And to come after his tragic death, he's not even around to defend himself. It's classless. I'm talking to Universal now and they're 'looking into it.'"

Moustapha Akkad is the main reason this franchise ever made it to its fans.

I remember being very bumbed out when I read he had been killed by a bomb that went off at a wedding he was attending in Jordan a few years back.

Is he mentioned in the credits at all?

Yeah, this is just sad. Universal really messed up and I probably won't be buyng the bluray because of it.

It seems so bizarre they would do that at random. I would be interested to see if they had any mention in the clong credits.

This is disgusting, I was so upset by this. What nerve! Mine was a pre-order so it arrived prior to this discovery, however right away I noticed the change. I immediately shut it off and repackaged mine and am awaiting refund. I suggest all those who pre-ordered or have bought it do the right thing and return it to send a message to the powers that be that we will not tolerate this. He was an incredible man and this is absolutely beyond cruel and illogical. I hope somehow they take note and release it the way it should have been. Until then do not buy it or support Universal home releases! A true fan of the original Halloween series and of film in general will do the same. Long live Moustapha Akkad!!!
