News On INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 3, MAD MAX, & THE STAND!

Anyone that is a fan of Horror knows that Mr. James Wan is a very busy individual. With the huge success of the first two INSIDIOUS flicks riding high, it seems that Wan's current schedule would be an issue when it came time to lock down just who would be sitting in the director's chair for INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 3. James Wan had teased on Twitter last month that a director for the next installment had been found. Fans of the franchise will not be disappointed as someone just as equally invested in the project as Wan will be taking over.

James Wan announced on Twitter that Leigh Whannell will be taking his spot and filling the shoes of director for INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 3. Whannell has collaborated with Wan on many projects plus he was the writer for both of the existing INSIDIOUS films. He also portrayed the role of Specs. In addition to Whannell directing the third film, he will also be writing it, with the assumption that he may return as the Specs character.

Leigh Whannell had this to say regarding the announcement of him taking over:

“I am really excited and I know I have giant shoes to fill. Let’s do this… Watching [James Wan] work over the past decade has been the best film school for horror anyone could wish for!”

INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 3 will be in theaters on April 3rd, 2015.

The talk of the new MAD MAX: FURY ROAD film has been going on for a long time now. It has had plenty of road blocks so to speak throughout the years and at the present time it is rolling along nicely. A new synopsis has popped up for the film and it sounds like it will be killer. Check it out below.

Synopsis:

"MAD MAX: FURY ROAD is the fourth film of George Miller‘s Road Warrior/Mad Max franchise co-written and directed by Miller. The post-apocalyptic action film is set in the furthest reaches of our planet, in a stark desert landscape where humanity is broken, and most everyone is crazed fighting for the necessities of life.

Within this world of fire and blood exist two rebels on the run who just might be able to restore order…

There’s Max (played by TOM HARDY), a man of action and a man of few words, who seeks peace of mind following the loss of his wife and child in the aftermath of the chaos.

And… Furiosa (played by CHARLIZE THERON), a woman of action and a woman who believes her path to survival may be achieved if she can make it across the desert back to her childhood homeland."

The film also stars Nicholas Hoult, Zoe Kravitz, Riley Keough, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Hugh Keays-Byrne, and Nathan Jones.

MAD MAX: FURY ROAD has a release date of May 15, 2015.

Earlier in the year we found out that director Josh Boone will be directing and doing a script rewrite for the upcoming film adaptation of Stephen King's THE STAND. There hasn't been much talk lately of the project but now word comes in that the first cast member has been announced.

Nat Wolff is the first cast member to join the upcoming THE STAND film. The role in which he will portray has not been revealed just yet. THR reports that Boone is writing a part specifically for Wolff.

Synopsis for THE STAND:

“The Stand is a story of good vs. evil after a virus wipes out most of the American population. While it features dozens of characters (such as the Trashcan Man and Mother Abigail) and overlapping story lines running over many years, the struggle boils down to a group of survivors fighting the Antichrist-like Randall Flagg.”
