The cast of Matt Reeves‘ Dawn of the Planet of the Apes just gained a new big name. Gary Oldman is slated to play “the leader of a human colony.” Oldman will work with the returning Andy Serkis, playing Caesar, as well as newcomers Jason Clarke and Kodi Smit-McPhee.
There's not much to know about the story, but the film is set fifteen years after the end of rise of the Planet of the Apes, and picks up after most of humanity has been wiped off the earth, leaving evolved primates as the dominant species. One prong of the plot will feature a group of San Francisco scientists who form a restance (that may be where Oldman fits in, and is likely how Clarke figures in as well) while another follows Caesar as he tries to retain control over the primate faction.
